Lesson 7

When Someone Shares Trauma: A Trauma-Informed Response

Sometimes the most healing response isn't having the perfect words—it's creating a space where someone feels safe enough to be heard.

When people choose to share a painful experience, they're often taking a significant emotional risk. They don't need us to investigate, analyze, compare stories, or rush toward solutions. More often than not, they need to know they're safe, believed, and free to share only what they're feel comfortable sharing.

In this lesson, you'll learn a trauma-informed approach to responding with calm, respect, and compassion. You'll also explore the importance of understanding the limits of your role as a Hope Dealer Listener. You are not expected to fix someone's pain—you are there to create a space where they feel heard and supported.
