Something happens. Then your mind tells you what it means.
I want to understand what happens in between.
The Human Meaning Project is an ongoing exploration of how people make meaning from everyday experiences.
Each week, participants are given the same simple situation and asked what their mind does with it.
There are no right answers. I want to see what naturally happens when different human minds are given the same event.
Get one short reflection by email every Monday. Your reflection responses are collected separately from your email address and remain anonymous.
What is it
The Human Meaning Project is an ongoing reflection-based research project created to better understand how people interpret everyday situations. Each week, participants respond anonymously to one short real-life scenario. There are no right or wrong answers. The goal is not to judge anyone’s thoughts, but to better understand the stories our minds create and how those stories shape our lives.
Why it matters
We do not experience life only through what happens to us. We experience life through the meaning our minds create about what happens. Sometimes those meanings help us survive. Sometimes they keep us stuck long after the moment has passed.
The Human Meaning Project exists to help uncover the recurring patterns in human thought, so more people can begin to recognize the stories shaping their lives and discover that every thought their mind produces is not necessarily the truth.
How it works
Every Monday morning, a new reflection is released.
You’ll read one short situation and answer a few simple questions:
What would your mind tell you happened?
How certain would you feel?
What emotion would come up first?
What story would your mind create?
Your response is anonymous, free, and usually takes about three minutes.
From Research to Learning
The Human Meaning Project asks questions about how people create meaning from their experiences. It is an ongoing exploration of the patterns, stories, and interpretations that shape our lives.
The Human Meaning Institute is where many of those ideas become practical learning experiences. Through self-paced courses, professional certificates, and research-informed education, the Institute helps people apply these insights in everyday life—strengthening communication, deepening understanding, and supporting others with greater empathy.
This Week’s Reflection
Your response helps build a growing body of insight into how human beings create meaning. The more we understand how meaning is created, the more freedom we may have in how we live, heal, relate, and move forward.
Your response is anonymous. You will not be asked to buy anything. There is no required mailing list signup. Responses may be used to identify patterns, create educational tools, and share general insights, but personal identifying information will not be shared publicly.
